Is there anyone out there in blog land a democrat? I know several have been vocal of their desire for McCain....and I have kept quiet....I have never cared what kind of views others have b/c I think everyone has a right to their own opinion. I just want to know, is anyone glad Obama won? I will say it.... I didn't vote because I felt I didn't know enough to make a true decision, so I chose not to vote. But, I wanted Obama to win, and I am glad he did. I don't voice my opinions on stuff like this b/c I don't like confrontation at all, so please, those of you that did not want him to win, be nice to me. (but feel free to comment)
I've just gotta know, am I the only democrat in my circle of blog friends?
I am so so so so so glad Obama won. The small Democrat group at Harding has basically just been running around to each others dormroom and screaming and laughing all night.
ReplyDeleteI'm dreading tomorrow. It will be filled with conservative teachers and angry students. I just might wear my Obama shirt again. Who cares if it's the same thing two days in a row?
i voted for, and still think our country would be in better shape if mccain won. for me, personally, the fact that he spent more time as a prisoner of war than obama has a senator is almost enough for me without exploring anything else. mccain loves our country and it's obvious. obama by his own admission doesn't want to salute our flag or sing our anthem. add my very strong opinion about abortion, especially late term, and the issue of giving medical care to "aborted" babies born alive, and obama's voting record on that, and mccain was the only choice for me.
ReplyDeletenow, i didn't say that to make you feel bad. i just am a little afraid for our country, and am not a big obama supporter. but i wanted to comment because though my political views are much different than obama's, i can honestly say that i, too, am very proud that america has made it so far. racism is still a live and well, but i HATE it, and i am thrilled to see a black family, a black man as our president. it does say something about how far our country has come, and i desperately want to see minority men and women succeed in our nation...and our races to become more and more of a blur.... less and less what we see. and even though i didn't vote for obama, i will be on my knees for him, support him, and continue to love him and our country! ;) i sincerely hope he does amazing, wonderful things as president!
i'm neither democrat or republican but was for mccain after hillary bowed out. i like obama's views better, but am scared for our nation as i feel he is in cahoots with al queda...where else does he get all that money? i have a bad feeling about this (star wars quote! haha) no, but really..i do have a bad feeling...i know how crazy and shallow it sounds, but i'm sooooo weary of him. some REALLY shallow people around here are griping b/c he is black...that is sick and rude and he is just as much white. i could care less what color he is, as should anyone else....a purple man/woman could run this country for all i care. i'm just really weary.
ReplyDeleteoh, does clay's cousin do septic tanks too?
I am not a Republican. I am not a Democrat. I don't see a day when I will affiliate myself with either party. I think politics is much more complicated than that.
ReplyDeleteI hope that no matter who people voted for, they can be glad that Obama won. As a believer, I am SO thankful that we are seeing an African-American become our president. It means that a large chunk of hatred, bigotry, and ignorance has been dealt with and I believe that makes God happy.
I don't put my trust in the government to dictate my morals or faith. I shudder to think that I would raise children who would think they could only be a Christian if they lived in a country that supports their views. So even if all the doomsdayers are right and Obama ruins every shred of decency in our country (which I don't think he will) then SHAME ON US for not having enough faith to be Christians anyway.
I think Psalm 20:7 sums it up well. "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord."
I'm sure you're not the only Democrat. I'm positive of it. I'm neither, to be quite honest. And, I didn't vote in this election, either...since we're on a truth telling kick right now!
ReplyDeleteReason being - Hillary should be President Elect right now, in my opinion. But, I'm a Clinton fan to the end....no matter the preconceptions of them in other's minds. Bill was my president. Hillary fit the bill better than either of the candidates we were allowed to vote for this term. Notice I say allowed. I don't agree with Washington Politics as they are. There's so much that we truly don't have a say in - but are told otherwise. We're told we can make a difference by casting a vote...I'm yet to be convinced.
I do hope Obama fairs well in the next few years. He has lots of ideas that seem positive and helpful to many Americans. There's just so much about him that seems like a façade - flowery speeches, empty words, and a lot of preaching. But, we'll see. He was the most likely of the two for change. And, with a Democratic House to back him, maybe we'll get to see some of this change.
Sorry to be a bit negative. He could be the lesser of two evils, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm looking forward to the next few years. And, I'm so proud of you for even saying anything about who you would've voted for!!! That's wonderful that you have an opinion!!!! You should talk about stuff like this more often!
Obama all the way!!!! Facebook is very hateful toward us today.. watch out! But know I'm on your side!
ReplyDeleteNo, you're not the only Democrat out here. I am one and I voted for Obama. I'm so glad he won!!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Brandy F. But I do still love ya Maury, haha :)
ReplyDeleteOk...I don't view myself as Democrat or Republican because there are always exceptions to the rule. I will say that I am tired of hearing "The first African-American President" because HELLO--he is equally Caucasian--which therefore the term doesn't exactly fit! I voted for McCain! I am saddened by the choice America has made, but I will continue to pray for the best! I do not understand how people who are Christians can honestly say they are for Obama and they are glad he won...By this, I mean, the Bible that I read does not support many of the views of Obama. This is just my opinion and everyone has the right to there own, and if you would like to explain to me why his views are ok with Christian views, then please do, because I would like to know.
ReplyDeleteI love you Maury and you know that, I just don't understand.....
I hope that no matter who people voted for, they can be glad that Obama won.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand that statement at all. I will PRAY for him, but I will NOT be glad he is my president. My reasons for not wanting him to win are in no way race related.
Thank God there are other people out there. I was so sick of hearing McCain. I didn't vote for President either, but wanted Obama to win. I get so sick of hearing well there is no way you are a Christian if you want a Democrat. So I usually just keep quiet.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I do not consider myself either Democrat or Republican. I vote for whichever candidate I agree with the most. (I have yet to see anyone I agree with completely.)
ReplyDeleteI think I tend to vote more Republican, but would never vote a straight party ticket. I will say that I voted for Bush before because his opponents and I had very little in common. I do not think that he has done amazing things, but I think that he did as he felt he should have for the good of the country.
This year I felt that I needed to up my research and really find out who stood for which things, and before the primaries I was hoping that Ron Paul would have a chance at getting the nomination. :( I voted for Hillary Clinton in the primaries because I felt that it was a forgone conclusion that McCain would get the Republican nomination no matter what.
In the actual election I voted for McCain because of the issues that mattered to me, and where he stood on those. I would gladly vote in 2012 for a person of any race or sex, although I hope that the next campaigns will be less driven by such factors. I have no problem with there being a President of any race, color, etc. I simply didn't agree with Obama on the issues that I found most important.
At the end of the day, he is our President-Elect and should be treated with respect.....NO MATTER WHAT. I hope and pray for the future of our country and will do my part to support ANYONE who has the guts to attempt to lead this country. ** and I will now step down from my soap box**
