Wheh! The good, the bad, and the ugly of moving

*** Oh, and I forgot to mention that I am saving my favorite room to show you once I get it just how I want it. I am so excited, it makes the move all worth while!***
Hello everyone, how are you?? I feel like I am totally behind in the world after this week. I am behind on blogs, facebook replies, e-mail replies, and album designing for the photog business(better get that one caught up first...haha). I don't even know where to begin.
Let's see....well, this is the 5th time we have moved since Rachel was born. (she is 5) I have to say this has been the quickest, but most unorganized, chaotic, busy, and tiring move so far. Once we decided to move, we only had 2 1/2 weeks. Clay ended up having to work an extra day the week we were moving (so 6 days this week), and 3 of those days have been 12 hr shifts. We were planned to move on Tuesday, his only day off, and he ended up getting sick. The kids had all been very sick for a week and a half leading up to that, so that slowed me down. Plus the fact, you know, when you need to do something, baby always wants to be held. Having an 8 month old, and nobody to help with him, and 3 other sick pitiful kids really slowed down my packing/cleaning. So, we had everything lined out to move Tuesday, and Clay got up that morning SO SICK that he couldn't possibly think about moving that day. So, I tried to get the guys that Laken used, but that didn't work out. Another friend had seen on facebook that I was talking about moving, so she just kindly had referred me to a moving company, I called them, and they were able to move us on Thursday. Thank goodness my mom was able to come and stay 3 nights to help me, or I KNOW I wouldn't have been able to survive this week. Really. It has been that bad! Not having Clay's help, and having a baby thrown in there, plus our new house has stairs, and having to have the old house clean and out of by this weekend....was really kicking my butt. TOO MUCH TO DO! There were many times I wanted to just sit down and boohoo like a big baby. I know I would have if my mom had not been here.
The good thing about all this, is after tonight, we will be totally done with the old house, and that will be all behind us, so I can totally focus on getting this new house in order. We are now a lot closer to everything....Maumelle was nice, and quiet, but not close to anything. Dollar Tree is within 2 minutes to our house! I felt really bad for Clay being sick, but I tell ya, those movers were angels. Watching them carry our furniture up those crazy staircase, I can't imagine Clay and my dad carrying all that stuff up there! Also, there was a delay in getting our house ready, and if we had moved in on Tuesday morning, our carpets here would have been soaking wet to put or furniture on.
One more good/bad thing....when DISH came to install our satellite, they told us that b/c our neighborhood has SO many big, tall, old trees, we won't be able to get reception here. Bad thing....no more of all that fun T.V. anymore, and no more DVR. The GOOD thing....we had kinda wished we hadn't signed up for it b/c it was $45 a month, and we had a 2 yr contract we couldn't get out of. Well, b/c we couldn't get reception, they let us out of the contract, so that is a nice monthly savings, and a good savings of my time I was wasting watching it! haha
We got some snow last night. I got a couple of quick pictures before church this morning, and I am glad I took the time to do that b/c it was all gone by the time we got home. (do you see that pile of junk under the carport? I have LOTS of unpacking to do!)
My poor daffodils were really drooping. I hope they perk back up!
A fun thing during all this moving, last weekend some of my friends from High School all got together to eat at Copeland's in Little Rock. ( OMG, that food was SO good!). I had a blast! Some I haven't seen since our first year out of school. It was great to see them all. Having us a Pizza Hut picnic at our old house the day before we moved.
my new laundry closet....I had really been hoping to have a bigger laundry room when we moved, not a closet, but so far, it hasn't been too bad.
Do you see this??? It is TREES! (and a very messy yard, but I am just glad the people behind us can't see into our yard!)
This is mine and Clay's closet on either side of the mirror
This is a window at the top of the staircase. It is kinda fun to look out....like we are on top of everything.
It is hard to see, but when I am washing dishes, I can look out this window and pretend we don't have any neighbors b/c all I see is nature.
The great refrigerator debate. Do you prefer a side by side, or this kind? I prefer the side by side, Clay prefers this. Since he spends a lot of time in the kitchen, I did listen to what he wanted, and in the end, he decided he would rather listen to me complain about this refrigerator, and have $400 more dollars in the bank..(the difference in price from the one I wanted)
Cay you say...."lots of raking to do??"
Daffodils are one of my favorite flower. I have always wanted to have some in my yard, and I finally do!

  1. So glad you survived. I detest moving so much so that I still have stuff in a chicken house (unused chicken house that is now used for storage) on my grandparent's farm. It's been there 11 years!

  2. Hi Maury
Glad to see you are all moved into your lovely new home. I am so sorry to hear your husband and kids were sick and your moving was delayed. It was great your Mom was able to come to your rescue. I really enjoyed the tour of your house. I especially liked the 'his and hers' closets and the white kitchen. You even had daffodils smiling to welcome you. I wish you lots of happiness in your new home.
    Best Wishes

I am so thankful for your Mom for you - she is just a sweetheart. I am such a bad blogger I haven't even posted pics, but you have inspired me to take some tonight!!!!

Lots of space,I bet carrying all that stuff up the stairs would have been a butt though,my hubby would have been growling the whole time.
