Gulfport/Biloxi

We drove back to the area the next year on the way home from our vacation. It was very sad for us....and the pain and loss that people have experienced was everywhere. It really looked like a ghost town, and without seeing it in person, you can't truly grasp the devastation. You could see where people had spray painted phone numbers, saying we are alive, stating they would shoot looters.....it was everywhere. These huge historic homes along the coast....leveled, or mostly gutted. All the restaurants we had eaten in, our hotel.....totally gone.
This pier....we love this photo, have it enlarged and framed in our home....you could see a few posts sticking up in the water....that was it. What started out as a reminder of our first vacation as a family hanging in our home, is now somewhat of a memorial to us.

This ship was a casino...but so cool looking all lit up at night......gone....

Marine Life Oceanarium.....we had so much fun there.....
There was a dolphin in the show named Noah....we thought that was so cool and here he is doing his flip.........
And his splash got Noah wet....we loved it!!

This is what it looked like when we went back. This was an entire year after the hurricane.....that is what is amazing, a year later.....so many things were still untouched after the hurricane.

Flashback day 2

So, Debbi asked why I chose 2005. No, there isn't any significance for that year. I was just scrolling through old pics on my computer, and realized I don't usually pull pics out of that folder for my blog, and I wasn't blogging at that time. I do have over 2,500 in that folder, (I have my digital pics organized by year) and there are a lot of cute ones, so I just decided I would dedicate this week to those.

I believe this is the very first time I ever got all 3 kids in a pic looking and smiling at the same time. I printed this pic for everyone I know!
This is one of the few pics that Noah and Leah favor each other to me. I think it is just b/c their eyes look the same here!

Let me repeat myself......

Now I really wish I was here........

Today I wish I was here.....

Ahhh.....the sound of the waves crashing, watching the kids run around so happy......laying there so relaxed without a care in the world......I wish we were there.

Flashback from 2005

This week, I am going to try to post everyday a flashback from the year 2005 for us. During the summer of that year the kids turned 2, 3, and 4. That was the year I had quit my job at the nursing home to do photography full time. We moved back to Warren after living in Monticello a year. My kids were still my "babies".

Kara & Nick

Today my sister has to take her husband to the airport for him to fly to Hawaii. He will be there a month or less, and then on to Iraq. He won't even get to spend Christmas with family. What a hard thing to do...my heart breaks for them! He will be over there for a year and half or so I think.
We enjoyed getting to visit with them and have our Christmas early last night. The kids just love their Uncle Nick, and we are going to all miss him! Please pray for their strength during this time, and his safety.
