Good morning to you

aAre you a morning person?? I am not. When I get up in the mornings, it takes a bit to come alive, and I don't really care to talk. Or hear noise. I remember as a teenager, I would open my bedroom door as quietly as I could so that maybe my mom wouldn't hear, b/c the instant she saw me, in the most cheerful sing song voice she would say "GOOD MORNING!" and I would just cringe. (SORRY MOM!!! You know I love you! haha)
I am not a good morning person. I am not even really a Greet you in the morning person b/c I am so out of it, and not wanting to be up, I just don't think about whoever else is around me. I remember when I worked at Cooper's Jewelers, they would always greet me with a good morning when I got there, and it was like it shook me out of my fog....and I would muster it up to say it back to them, but that was odd to me to be saying good morning...what was good about it, I was awake! LOL
Anyway, Clay is the same way, and so are our kids. We do say good morning sometimes, but it isn't just an automatic thing. It is more like a low grumble...mustered up from deep. So, when our 2 newest children came to live with us, it was quite an adjustment. You see, they wake up, when the sun comes up, as chipper as possible. How can someone be like that in the morning??? We have been training our girl to be quiet, and lay quietly in her bed since the entire rest of the house is still asleep. This may would fit well for a Not me Monday, but we just can't stand to all get up at 6 am and go full blast. I do get up at 6 am a lot these days with the babies. And now that it has become a routine, it is getting easier for me to not be so grouchy in the mornings. And, A has learned not to talk quite so much first thing, so that is better for my ears as well.
What brought this post up to me was, the last few mornings, she has gotten up, and in the sweetest voice possible said, "good morning, Mom". And it doesn't irritate me, it makes me smile. Its a good way to start my day.
So, are you a "Good Morning" person???

  1. I am JUST LIKE YOU. And my husband gets up singing EVERY DAY like Poppa Smurf. I want to choke him.

  2. Nope, definitely not! Neither is my husband or our first child. With the other four though, we went through the same adjustment period you described. It does get better. My "happy in the morning" child will now walk around quietly if he knows I am up but not out of my room yet. The worst problem we have is our special needs child, but even he has gotten to where he will sleep until we wake him except for occasionally.

  3. no, i wasn't at all. now, i am for my kiddos, but when i get to work i still get a little ill...mainly b/c there is the one lady that if i am not smiling EVERY single time she sees me, she says...smile, it will be alright...GETS ON MY NERVES!!! I want to go off so bad, but know that i will regret it and so i just don't say anything. Thing is too....she NEVER EVER smiles herself. WHAT????????? haha

  4. Ok, have to admit I'm a morning person these days. Not at 6, but by 7. The best kid moments in my house are first thing in the morning. I just love the rested morning smiles and giggles.
