My tree is decorated in snowmen. I love snowmen. All of my x-mas decorations pretty much are snowmen. I have just collected them over the years. Our first year of marriage I borrowed a mini tree from my mom. The next year I bought a tree, but could barely afford any ornaments. Over the years I have collected just a few each year....marked down after Christmas. I guess it was the 3rd year that I started the snowman theme.
I know without a doubt this ornament is the most expensive one on my tree. I got this as a gift from Ms. Wagnon when I worked at Wagnon Place. It came from Massey's and it still had the tag on it! But....I love this one. It is so cute! I know the year I got I was scared to put it on my tree....I put it at the very top to keep it from getting broken.
When I look at this ornament....I remember the hours of overtime our department put in decorating that place. Have you ever been to Wagnon Place Nursing home during Christmas time...or drove by it on the highway and seen the gigantic tree in the wondow and all the lights outside?? Well, the social/activity department are the ones that make all that happen. I think there around 9 trees that she puts up. Big elaborate trees. I doubt the residents really care for as much decorations that go up....but it really does all look good. I know the residents did enjoy watching us put it all up, and enjoyed picking on us and making fun of the trees with the big decorations too.
That is a really cute orniment. You have to commend Mrs. Sue for all the work she does out there. My grandmother is there and the stuff she puts on is top notch. The care is just as good. My family went to the Halloween party and it was so fun. The patients LOvE all of it and it is so good that she thinks of all of it. Everything she uses is expensive she doesn't use cheap stuff out there and I think that is so special.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Ms. Sue runs a very good home. I loved my job there, and I know she has put her heart and soul into that place. Anytime she knew of anyone needing anything, she took care of it immediately. She did a lot of things for people that they never even knew about.

ReplyDeletei have seen it - when my grandmother was there. and all those overtime hours do matter. it says you still matter. no matter what, you still matter. and i've always said you don't know just how much they are aware.

I bet those patients enjoyed it more than you know. You guys were probably the only "family" a lot of them had; so those were 'their' trees.
