Gulfport/Biloxi

We drove back to the area the next year on the way home from our vacation. It was very sad for us....and the pain and loss that people have experienced was everywhere. It really looked like a ghost town, and without seeing it in person, you can't truly grasp the devastation. You could see where people had spray painted phone numbers, saying we are alive, stating they would shoot looters.....it was everywhere. These huge historic homes along the coast....leveled, or mostly gutted. All the restaurants we had eaten in, our hotel.....totally gone.
This pier....we love this photo, have it enlarged and framed in our home....you could see a few posts sticking up in the water....that was it. What started out as a reminder of our first vacation as a family hanging in our home, is now somewhat of a memorial to us.

This ship was a casino...but so cool looking all lit up at night......gone....

Marine Life Oceanarium.....we had so much fun there.....
There was a dolphin in the show named Noah....we thought that was so cool and here he is doing his flip.........
And his splash got Noah wet....we loved it!!

This is what it looked like when we went back. This was an entire year after the hurricane.....that is what is amazing, a year later.....so many things were still untouched after the hurricane.

  1. This is what is so crazy to me, a year after and it still looks like that! I have a brother in law who went to help clean up and he couldn't believe what he saw, the pictures he took were unreal!
