Our first birds!

Here are our first birds that we have seen to visit our new bird feeder. I am so excited!! What makes me even more excited is that my KIDS are teaching ME what these birds are! We have a bird book, so I am checking in it, and they are right every time! Thank you to my mother-in-law for teaching my kids something I have never known, and probaby wouldn't have thought to teach them. I can't wait for Clay to get the tripod and zoom lens out.
**and I feel this is a sign that I am getting old...getting excited about birds and flowers! I can remember so many times in my life my mom pointing them out to me...and was like...whatever! Now, I have learned to see the beauty in just about everything! I wasted so many years not caring!
The American Goldfinch
The female house finch
male and female house finch
male house finch

And here is our first petunnia......and I am anxious to see what color the others are b/c we bought a flat of mixed colors.....just so we would have a surprise.

And I just love these flowers....so colorful!

  1. I am ready to plant too! BUT you know I have to know what color my flowers are! They have to color coordinate! LOL Glad the kids are teaching you all about those birds! That is so sweet! Be sure to get a hummingbird feeder when that time comes! Happy Easter!

  2. What fun! Maury's getting old! I hear you on that one. It's amazing the things that interest us now that we wouldn't think to care about a few short years ago. The flowers and bird feeders look like lots of fun to me.

  3. Talk about getting old.. One night while walking on the tread mill me and my daddy discussed deviled eggs and a few other things that we like to cook! Lee was shocked when he asked what all we were talking about.. I was like oh just deviled eggs, potato salad, etc.. Just just gave me the strangest look! LOL
