They're all bike riders now!

Noah learned to ride his bike without training wheels when he was 5. He was wanting to ride his bike and like a dope, I just pushed it down the deck steps, instead of carrying it, and it cracked a training wheel off. After he got over crying, and everyone made me feel like a dope for doing that, Clay told him it was a good time to learn without training wheels. And he did, very quickly. He practiced a lot in the yard, and that was about the time we moved to the apartments and had excellent sidewalks to ride on, and he was a pro at it within a couple of weeks. Leah...well, she is Leah, and very much like her momma in that she lets fear stop her from trying things. We haven't even pushed it with her. We didn't have a good flat area to ride at all in Maumelle. So, Clay decided this summer was about time for her to learn. He told her if she wanted a pool, she had to learn to ride without the training wheels before she would go buy it.
Rachel, she is one tough cookie. All she needs is the challenge that her brother and sister can do something, and she is on it...with this look of determination in her eyes. She got on that bike, and just went full force, and crashed. That didn't stop her though. She got out there and worked at it over and over again in the yard....had huge bruises down both legs, but she got it down! Leah, upset that her little sister could do it, and she couldn't, finally mustered up enough courage to practice without us watching, and she has gotten the hang of it now too. She practiced a lot on my parent's long driveway. Today, Clay took them all out on their first solo ride...all 3 of them! I felt left out...I don't have a bike, and I, like Leah, and scared to even try riding one now it has been so long.

She put her feet down right when I got ready to take it. She hangs her tongue out when she is riding...I think to balance herself? :)

  1. You must get a bike Maury, you will be fine! You never forget how to ride a bike. I love riding with Tim and Jessica as it's something we can all do together.
That's great all your kids can now ride. Great pictures of them and your husband.

  2. I agree, you need a bike. And one of those little enclosed wagon things for the babies and you can all go together! And just think of the workout!
