How do you organize a bag full of candy?
Last night we went down to Monticello to enjoy their great Fall Festival at church. It is so much fun every year, with just the right amount of people for my liking....(I hate large crowds). Fun games, good food...and they are VERY generous with the candy. It is so much, but all my church family that we grew up with give these huge handfuls out so lovingly, It is worth driving 2 hours to go home for my kids to go.
Usually we spend the night when we go down, but we didn't last night. So they had to wait 2 whole hours to find out what was in those bags. Can you imagine the anticipation? I heard a few pieces sneaked along the way. I was still trying to get myself in the door, and they had already come in and dumped their bags. I found it funny to watch how they all examined their candy.
When I was a kid, the best I remember, I would dump the whole bag and organize out all the cool candy bars.....then my dad would get the ones I didn't like...(I know he loved that, just as we do now for our own kids! haha) and then I put it in either in a drawer, or a bowl. I think I took my time....I would make my candy stretch for a pretty long time. I didn't have any competition. No sibling that would be lurking around to take my candy if I didn't eat my stash faster than theirs.
Rachel, she just dumps her candy, and goes after it. She doesn't pay attention to any of the other stuff already on the table, or if her treats are getting mixed in with everyone else's. You could steal away a lot of her stuff, and she would never know what all she has had.
Leah....she loves some candy, but also enjoys all the other little goodie treats that comes along with it, and just as excited about the cute little cups too. She will take the time up front to get it all sorted out, so that she doesn't have to waste time later. When her stash gets lower, she will complain that people have stolen he stuff, but won't be certain what all it was.
Do you see the organized piles of each candy? That would be Noah. And with that organization, will be his desire to want to leave this all just the way it is, b/c he wouldn't want to mess with the piles. I can hear him now when I tell him to clean this all up....(we just shuffled them off to bed last night with the candy all still laid out.) "But I have all my candy organized now, I can't find a place to put it up". Noah will know if things go missing, and will very strongly accuse everyone of stealing it.

My candy? Well, I have two seperate bags.. one for chocolates, and the other for the other really good non-chocolates that I like. (very few.. mainly skittles and starbursts.) I learned to seperate them b/c eventually the chocolate will take on a REALLY weird taste from the other stuff. Gross! What waste of good chocolate! lol
ReplyDeleteAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh we missed it!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour organizing candy sounds like a wonderful piece in a magazine. I think it reveals so much about their individual personalities. Noah's precision and the fact that he likes to watch the news--I wonder if he will make a great academic, maybe a historian. He's such a caring person too! Leah, the reader, the creative one. And Rachel, so warm and impulsive. They are so precious.
