Laundry has just been out of hand lately and a here are a few things I have done to cut out 3-4 loads a week. 1.) At night, since they are sleeping through the night most the time, I put both babies in Huggies diapers, one size larger than what they normally wear, and now we are having very few diaper leaks...that's a lot of laundry there..(I only use these expensive diapers at night...still using the cheap ones in the day) The kids were also bad about getting a new pair of pj's everynight. I now make them put them under their pillow each morning, and they have to wear them 3 nights before getting news ones. I also kinda made a game out of who has the "shortest stack of laundry" each time I fold, and that kinda challenges them not to wear so many different clothes. And also, I cut back on the towel usage around here too.
I got so tired of washing towels...and there is only one towel bar in the kids bathrooms, so I had to do something. I had enough hooded towels for all but one, so I just purchased one more. Their bathroom is very small, and there is no wall space, so I got an over the door hanger...which is great anyway since we are renting. Well, the bathroom door won't shut with this on it, and also the kids couldn't reach them anyway, so I hung this up in the laundry room. I am always up and about during bathtime anyway, so I just pass out the towels, and then they have to turn them back into me, and when it is time to wash, they are already in the right room!
I have had this closet in place for awhile, and it is a big help for me. This closet is the coat closet in our home, it is right in the den. I keep all the kids shoes, belts, hats, socks, stuff to fix their hair, diaper bags....and in the summer swim suits....all the stuff it takes for us to get out the door. Man it cuts down on the running around the house. It also helps when it is time to pick up....b/c those are a lot of the things that tend to get strewn about.
Finally, in the den, I have this basket. I don't have a changing table, and I usually end up changing diapers and clothes in the den, amongst the action. So, I have this nice basket with a lid that I keep diapers, wipes and baby toys in out of the way.
I will be setting this system up as soon as this babe gets here,we needed HELP!Jamie will have to build another closet, but we need one anyhow.Currently we have one those "hall tree" things and it is just a wreck, coats on the floor, hats, gloves etc all just thrown wherever. It looks a mess.
ReplyDeleteI make my kids re wear pjs too :)
ReplyDeleteMaury - I had trouble with the kids diapers leaking. I used the night time diapers from Huggies. They work great and aren't more expensive than the regular Huggies.
ReplyDeleteI love the basket idea for the den! I am DEFINITELY getting one of those to put diapers and wipes in so that everytime Oakley needs a change I don't have to go back to her room! Thanks for the idea!
