I am really becoming a little crazy about these birds these days. I get excited everytime I see a new one! Until now, they have always just been a bird....and now I look at all their colorings, markings, size, and shape...and know their names!
This one was at the park the day we were flying kites....he hasn't visited our home yet. LOL
The Robin

This is a morning dove

The American Goldfinch again...still my favorite!

This is a cow bird.....AKA "pig" bird at our house! He likes to bring about 30+ of his friends to eat up all our food. This bird was cool to me for about 1 day....the first day I saw it and identified it....before he brought along all his friends.

The little guy here in the feeder is one of my favorites too. He is a sparrow...not exactly sure which kind.

Another of my friend.

The house finch...male and female.....looks like that one is taking a big dive off there!

Example of the cowbirds taking over my feeder....and if I had photographed the ground below, and the tree above, you would have seen 20 waiting for their turn!

Here are the chipping sparrows.....they have been coming around this past week....they are so cute! You may not can see.....but I can see a grain of food in both of their mouths!

i'm not so smitten with birds in general, but always have a hummingbird feeder...love them! i kept my feeder up all through the winter b/c they just kept coming. i had to fill it up twice. i didn't even know they came around in winter!
ReplyDeleteI bet you are going through some serious bird seed with those cow birds. I'm glad you are enjoying the new hobby, Linda must be proud!
ReplyDeleteI love the one with the bird taking off in flight - it's like 3rd from the bottom or something. That is great you caught all those pictures! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteI just told my dh the other day that I would love to know more about birds! Yesterday someone sent out a link on a yahoo group I am in for a coloring book with different birds and questions that the kids can look up answers to. I also bought some "North American Bird" notebooking pages, so maybe one day soon we will start learning the different birds. I was in a friends backyard recently and say the prettiest cardinal (I guess...it was red... :) ) and was just kicking myself because I did not have my camera!
ReplyDeleteThose morning doves drive me NUTS.. there are millions of there here and they echo in my bathroom... Dalton will go THERE GOES THAT BIRD AGAIN... HOO HOO HOO! One day we get out at WM and she hears one and she goes... LOOk! It followed us to Wal-Mart!
