We did our killer whale lapbook today. This one was a big hit.....they take after their mom loving killer whales. We watched Free Willy last night, and looked at a book about how they released the whale that played the part..."Keiko" back into the wild. I am actually sitting down and reading the book b/c I love orcas! We also watched several YouTube videos of killer whales.....several of them were out in the ocean, video taped by people in boats. Yep..that is my next dream vacation, go on an Orca cruise to see them out in the wild.
I also got out my artwork from college and showed them all the pictures I used to paint and draw of killer whales. Then we all drew our own orcas.
This one on the cover is the one I drew, then Leah colored it.
I think they were more excited about this b/c we have been to Sea World. We included a lot of our pictures from that trip. This was a simpler lapbook, and they did a lot of it themselves. Rachel did the page on what Killer Whales eat all by herself.
