We finally went on our first outing as a family of 8. We set out in 2 vehicles, I had the van with Noah, Leah, Hunter and Zachariah, Clay in the Navigator with Rachel and Amber. We went to the zoo, so it was totally free (b/c we have a family pass, and the didn't charge us any to add our new kids), except the gas it took for 2 vehicles to drive 30 mins to get there. We had a good day. Everyone acted great and had a lot of fun. There was the typical crying/meltdown once they got hot, tired, and thirsty, but everyone was equally whining, and I felt the same way, so we left soon after that! It was SO nice to get out of the house today, I had a great time, and I was so proud of my big family!
Look, they are line up by size just by accident!
Even Zachariah was so good! He only cried bad enough to get out of the stoller once when he was hungry...that is a record for him! He was in a really good mood, and has been the last few days.
Looks like a good time was had by all and I know it felt good to get out of the house for a bit!!

I see Z has a Evenflo Discovery carseat,how are you liking that one?It is one of the ones we are looking at right now...It makes me feel old to say but man,car seats have gone up in price.When my kids were little it was pretty typical to get one in the $50 range and high end was $80.Now the low end is $80-crazy!!!
hooray for great outings!!!!! yes, one thing i've definitely learned is that you can't just stay home. you have to do for 6 exactly what you would do if there were only 2 or 3. it's only fair. and actually, it makes for a "successful" feeling, huh? i'm so glad ya'll had a great day!
ReplyDeletewell, i'm still not 100% sure about our new placement, the case worker had told me IF she went and got her, she would be bringing her here. i called this morning to ask if she knew for sure, so that i could pull out all the baby stuff, but the sec. said she was out of the office. i asked if she knew when she would return, she said she signed out to __________ (the place where the baby is.... 3 1/2 hours from here). so.....i'm still not pulling the baby stuff out, but i'm feeling fairly confident she's coming! woo-hoo!
