we're home!

I am too lazy to load my camera today, but felt the need to blog since it has been 2 days. LOL We got home late last night from Monticello, and are very lazy today. The kids had a great week, and cried for about 15 mins in the car last night b/c they were not ready to come home. They had a blast at VBS, and didn't want to leave their family and friends. Rachel told me this morning she wished we all lived there, and Leah too. Noah was the only one happy to be home. (that is just b/c he was ready to get back to all his new b-day stuff) I have mixed feelings about it myself. I have said this before, but there is such comfort in going home. Just being there at church with everyone that we have known forever, seeing parents, grandparent, cousins and friends...the whole church really is our "family". The kids go to church down there all the time when they are with grandparent's, but this is the first time since Halloween we have been. Just to see how everyone has changed and grown in a couple years time is unreal. Babies were now little kids, kids, were now teenagers. Newlyweds having babies. It makes me sad to not be around and see everything going on without us. And I see how happy the kids are there. They fill so much at ease there.

But at the same time, I love our house, am excited about my new friends I have made here, and all the opportunities the kids have had up here. I always get so emotional and conflicted when I am down there, I think I avoid going b/c of that. Just the peace of the country at my parent's....how we long for that. We can't even go in our tiny backyard b/c the house behind us is on a hill, and it just towers above our fence, and our neighbor is always outside. We are finally going to be having our homestudy Monday at 10:00 am. I am anxious to see if we will finally get the show on the road, or there will be even more setbacks. Please pray for us.

Clay has a wedding today, and we will be having a quiet weekend after that except some cleaning on Sunday. What are your weekend plans??

  1. I have absolutely no plans this weekend. It is actually kinda nice, but would like to do something sometime soon. We might go out to eat tonight and that will probably be the extent of it unless I find a movie to take the kids to! :) I really do wish you could move back. Although you would be in Monticello probably and I would be in Herbine/Pansy! haha

  4. Sorry for not commenting much lately. I'm in a slump.

I know exactly how you feel about moving back. Jobs are the only thing that keep us here. And, honestly, it's a job for Brian...and not so much me. I could probably do about anything, anywhere. Brian. Not so much.

I'm happy with our house (for the most part - our realtor was a joke) and I love living in Maumelle. But when you factor in how much Braiden loves my parents and how much they are missing because we're 2 hours apart, and how much cheaper it is to live down there...I don't know. It makes it hard to completely dismiss the move.

And, friends. Yeah, we have friends here. Great friends. But, we never do anything with any of them to justify staying just because they live here...did that make any sense? Brian & I were talking the other day about how we missed doing stuff with Jamie & Bobby (a couple we did stuff with regularly in Warren), and how we just don't have that here. We've tried to get together with folks, but something always seems to come up or one of us is friends with the other couple and not both of us (so it's uncomfortable). I'm rambling.

Good luck with the homestudy...unless that's already happened, and then "I hope it went well!"!!

Thanks for letting me vent. I needed to get some of that off my chest.
