The kids were so excited about the 4th, they picked out and laid out their clothes all on thier own the night before. They even picked out mine and Clay's. We were very patriotic today! We read a book about independence day so that I could teach them the history of it, and then we decided to go do a little shopping. Thanks for the idea, Angie, there were a lot of sales going on today! We went to Old Navy, JC Penney, Quiznos, Payless, and Sports Authority. I have to say....I have never seen a more excited bunch of people having to work. And I totally don't blame them. Every store had a lot of employees, and I don't think I got a friendly greeting by any of them. Everyone looked to be in the depths of despair for having to work today. And you know, there wasn't really that many people shopping today. Stores should have just closed and given those poor people the day off! We only went b/c we didn't have anything else to do. Well, except clean house and pack...
I said we for sure had to get a family photo since the kids went to all that trouble to coordinate our clothes! I think this may be one of our bests so far as far as cooperation and everyone's smile...and the fact that we got this with the first try! I know the flag was a bit cheesy, but Rachel was proud to hold it!
We had planned on going to a parade in Maumelle today, but then we ended up shopping too long and missed it. I found these visors at Target off the $1.00 bin, marked 75% off, and then when I got home, I notice that the girl only charged me for 1, so I got all three of these for a whopping twenty five cents!
Leah took this one of us.
Then we went down to Lake Wilestein in Maumelle to watch the fireworks. They are so awesome, and I love how easy it is to get to it.
I think Rachel liked them the best.
So, how did you celebrate the 4th???

I love the matching red/white/blue clothes, I got the boys to do it, but my husband wouldn't play along and wore yellow!?! Your picturs of the fireworkds are great, mine never turn out. We had a bbq at lunch, played with water balloons and sparklers and watched the fireworks at night. Fun day.
ReplyDeleteWe were lazy today.. then Avery got on a cleaning spree and I just let 'er rip! We ran to Atwoods to get puppy shots for Lee that he HAD to have TODAY and then of course did not use them! Then off to WM to get some food and it came a FLOOD for about 10 minutes while we were in there! BUT, don't worry it did not even rain at our house!! I finished power washing the shop when we got home and cleaned out the dogs pens and got showers... ate and went to the fireworks up town!!
ReplyDeleteI really like the family pic and especially the one of you and clay. Your pictures of fireworks are awesome. Mine always turn out funny! haha We grilled, swam, and did fireworks. Oh, and started moving with two loads taken to storage!
ReplyDeleteI love these pics and how you matched your family...so cute!
ReplyDeleteWe went to crossett and watched fireworks there with my parents...grilled out with some friends and had a great time!
Your kids are just like little adults! You are so lucky--I have to help my boys pick out clothes most of the time--I hope they get good wives!!! :)
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has a dress just like Leah's!
We went to my parent's and ate WAY too much. Then we came home and Clayton's parents came over and we ate WAY too much again. Then we went back to my parent's for fireworks and again, ate--WAY too much!!! I probably gained 25 lbs. yesterday....
Love the family picture--and no, the flag isn't cheesy!! It's looks great!

ReplyDeletethey are so funny with the clothes!! tell 'em i love it!
ReplyDeleteglad y'all had fun. we did survive all the fireworks. and i didn't end up with too bad of a headache!
GREAT pictures! Leah did a fabulous job on the one of you & Clay!!! :o) WAY TO GO!! I love your fireworks pictures!
ReplyDeleteWe didn't do anything. We swam w/ Braiden at home...Brian got a sunburn. Then we watched Alvin & The Chipmunks like 3 times (Braiden's favorite movie) and then went to the Maumelle fireworks show at 8:30. I had wanted to go to the whole thing, but we fell asleep in the living room during Rachel Ray. Braiden liked the fireworks...I, however, was too disgusted with the idiots near us to enjoy anything. Another story.
Saturday, Brian went to the Fireworks stand near First Security Bank and bought over $100 worth of stuff for $42!!! He was excited!
Okay, first, I love the family pic, but I REALLY LOVE the pic of you and Clay. It is such a wonderful photo! It compliments both of you well!! It sounds like you all had such a fun day! I love shopping!!!
ReplyDeleteI made some tshirts for them to wear, something we do every year. One of the few times that I am crafty. We had a bbq at my SIL house and we popped a few fireworks at home.
