Thank you to EVERYONE for all of your good suggestions. There was a lot of good ideas. Clay suggested New Orleans, and at first I was like no way...but the more I thought about it I got really excited. We have both always wanted to go, but we would not want to take the kids. It looks like we can do as much as, or as little as we want to do and still have fun. I like the idea of just doing one of those tour buses and they tell you all about the city....and I am really excited about maybe getting some cool pictures down there.
So...have any of you ever been to New Orleans?? If you have....any suggestions on where to go, things to do would be great. We don't have a clue!
hey... i lived in new orleans for quite q few years and would have been content to stay there the rest of my life but my wife just isn't a city girl... all that was pre-katrina, though. they're still a decade or more from recovering, so i don't know that i'd expect too much from the city right now. of course the french quarter was largely unaffected by the hurricane or the ensuing flood, so that's certainly something to go experience... french market, cafe dumond for coffee and beignets, jax brewery and riverwalk (for shopping), aquarium & imax theater, audubon zoo, if you're a baseball fan and the zephyrs are in town (triple A affiliate of the houston astros), you can take in a ballgame, ride the st. charles avenue street car. if more comes to mind, i'll post some more...
